30-DAY CHANCE OF RETRIEVING FILES THROUGH ONE DRIVE FOR BUSINESS

The mistake of deleting files by accident or deleting files with the thought that it wouldn’t have any value anymore can now be revoked. Microsoft Office 365’s One Drive for Business brings a new chance to its users to retrieve files within a 30-day grace period.

“Files Restore”, the name of this feature, can track the changes that have been made on a file through a chart presentation. You may access your One Drive, and search for “Files Restore” to select the chosen time and date that you want the version of the file to be restored.

Users have long been requesting this feature to correct their mishaps on significant files. There are instances when the latest version of your file is not the exact file that you need. Aside from mistakenly deleted file scenarios, previous versions of files that have been later infected by malware can also be recovered. Now files that have been altered, corrected, overwritten, and consequently deleted can be recovered through “Files Restore”.

Microsoft dubbed it as a “complete self-service recovery solution”. It empowers the user to pinpoint the file that they need to review and retrieve. Document versions can be reviewed for the entire duration of thirty days from the day that is deleted. Based on “Support for Office”, all types of forms including PDFs, photos, videos, and others are permissible to be recovered through “Version History”.

It is essential that the file is still within the “Recycle Bin” and that “Version History” is turned on so that this feature can be fully used.

6 REASONS WHY 2017 IS CSE’S BEST YEAR SO FAR

On its 12th year, Computer Solutions East, Inc. (CSE) continues to solidify its imprint in the IT industry as it continually evolves as a more customer-oriented business.  CSE is right on track for 2018 with its increased interactions within the community. In the past year, significant business relationships were formed through new encounters with potential customers and partners.

Here are the 6 Reasons Why 2017 is CSE’s best year so far:

  1. Migrating more than 100 Customers to Office 365

Office 365 is a cloud productivity suite that carries various office applications online. With the effectiveness of this Microsoft product, CSE has been performing well as a Microsoft partner by  migrating an impressive total of 133 customers to Office 365 this year.

  1. Attending a Microsoft conference and Boot Camp

CSE sent its esteemed delegates to Microsoft Inspire 2017, the biggest annual partner conference, held in Washington D.C., USA, as well as, to the Customer Immersion Experience Boot Camp that was held at the New York Microsoft Technology Center, New York, USA.

CARING FOR YOUR EYESIGHT WITH WINDOWS 10

Updates come from time to time to improve a system. The Night Light is an update that has been helping its users maintain not just their productivity but their health as well. It has been months since this feature was launched but it still resonates well with the public as it reflected the social responsibility that Windows 10 carried for its users.

Night Light reduces the blue light emitted by your screen that harms your eyesight and affects a person’s melatonin (the sleep hormone) level. When someone is exposed to blue light at night time, one’s melatonin level is decreased which makes it difficult to sleep.  One could also experience chronic eyestrain from overexposure to blue light.

It is common for some business owners and employees to work past six in the evening which makes this feature a great asset when it comes to health concerns.

One can enable the Night Light feature by heading to the computer’s “Settings”, then “System”, then “Display”.  Under the display option, you can turn on the night light. The computer will automatically be on night light mode at the desired specific night time schedule while the color temperature could also be adjusted up to its warmest tone.

This is Windows 10’s feature  that is gentle to your eyes and has been embedded in the Windows 10 Creators Update (version 1703).

As an operating system(OS), Windows 10 can be acquired through the bundle price of $20.00 per user/month via Microsoft 365.  Windows 10 is part of the Microsoft 365 package alongside with Office 365 and Enterprise Mobility + Security.

U.S.-Based Customer Immersion Experience (CIE) Boot Camp Develops More CIE Trainers For CSE

Technical Services Manager Eric Fuentes, Sales Manager Victor Sai and Operations Manager Gerald Villanueva, delegates of Computer Solutions East Inc. (CSE), attended Microsoft’s Customer Immersion Experience Boot Camp training held at the New York Microsoft Technology Center, 7th Floor, 11 Times Square, New York, USA, on September 26-29, 2017.

Microsoft Customer Immersion Experience is a simulation of real-life business operational problems that provides Microsoft-product oriented solutions. CIE partner facilitators were there to guide the delegates in undergoing this experience.

Delegates Fuentes, Sai, and Villanueva unanimously viewed the Customer Immersion Experience as a holistic journey to engage in. “As a facilitator, I now listen, guide, and inspire my customers, and create those ‘wow’ moments.  I don’t aim to deliver a 3-hour sales presentation—rather I [should] enable people to explore and [to] discover through an innovative hands-on experience,” Sai expounded.

Coming from different departments in the company, they had various takes on how CIE nurtured them as future practitioners of this experience-centered sales method.  Villanueva felt that being a non-technical person played to his advantage, so he can facilitate and speak the language of the customers.  “CIE is where you understand how to effectively sell the product without directly telling them to buy the product,” Fuentes explained. Villanueva discerned it as “a training that enables a person to sell by convincing the customer to use the product”. While Sai believed that, “CIE Training is a powerful tool that allows all Microsoft partners to access the resources we need to effectively sell the value of Microsoft services, drive sales and deployment, and create a unique, fun and engaging environment for all our customers”

Contrary to their expectations that it would be a typical training with traditional product presentations, demos, and slide presentations that would heavily use technical jargons and statistics, it was instinctively facilitated with a free-flowing manner through the laying out of concepts by Mr. Mike O’Neill from BrainStorm, Incorporation.  Sai affirmed that “CIE puts a customer in the driver’s seat for a rich and interactive experience. It is a unique and risk-free opportunity to explore Microsoft’s Office applications in a ‘true-to-life’ environment”.

The integration of real-life instances gave a more personal touch throughout the training since it was relatable and the necessity for the product was subtly ingrained.  “The training mainly focused on letting the customer drive the conversation and letting them find out the answer themselves. Oftentimes, you really have to give customers real-life experiences that they can easily relate to and show how the product would have played its part into the story,” Villanueva explained.

They believe that CIE could change the platform towards gaining optimum business productivity by concentrating on customer engagement and the assimilation of Microsoft products in every situation throughout the office. “CIE takes us through everyday business situations, such as working remotely, analyzing sales data, and collaborating with coworkers, and lets us see how Microsoft products make it all easy, convenient, and secure,” Sai added.

Fuentes emphasized the importance of practicing after the training to have a well-rounded grasp and execution of post-CIE. Thus, they would love to recommend this to be experienced firsthand by their colleagues.  “As a CIE Certified Facilitator, I have gained the presentation skills, soft skills, and technology skills that help me lead my customer to discovering the right solutions for their business and helps them experience the ‘future of productivity’,” Sai said.

CSE felt that the four-day training was more than worth it for equipping them with the methodology of effective client engagement. The focus on the immersion was important since  this is the key to recognizing the importance of Microsoft products. As Sai puts it, “they can really be powerful resources in helping us accelerate our sales of Microsoft products and services”. It has equipped them with practical lessons that they could easily execute to the clients.  “CIE sessions will let you experience the product to a whole new level,” Villanueva stated.

“CIE prepares CSE to become more successful in the coming days. This training lets you feel and relate to the experiences of one’s business, and provides help to make things easier for them,” Villanueva asserted.

Microsoft Reveals New Office 365 Planner

0Microsoft is excited to introduce a brand new experience in Office 365—Office 365 Planner, which offers people a simple and highly visual way to organize teamwork. Planner makes it easy for your team to create new plans, organize and assign tasks, share files, chat about what you’re working on, and get updates on progress. Planner can be used to manage a marketing event, brainstorm new product ideas, track a school project, prepare for a customer visit, or just organize your team more effectively.

Teamwork organized

2

One of the most valuable aspects of Planner is that it helps teams organize their work visually. Each plan has its own Board, and within each Board, each work item or task is represented by a Card that can have due dates, attachments, categories and conversations associated with it. Team members receive an email notification whenever they are assigned a new Card or added to a conversation.

Every Card can have documents (or pictures) attached that automatically get rich image previews, so it is easy to understand what the Card is about at a glance. In addition, Cards can be organized on the Board into customizable columns called Buckets, which can be prioritized and tagged with colored labels.

Planner also gives you views to keep your work on track. The Hub view lets you track overall progress across all plans, while the “My tasks” view lets you filter down to see just what you need to do across every plan. In addition, the “Charts” view includes interactive charts for visualizing people’s progress against deadlines. Click a red segment on the histogram to quickly see which aspects of a plan are behind schedule and use the Board to rebalance work across the team. With Planner, everyone is always on the same page. A single glance of the Charts view is all it takes to know where things stand.

Works great with all of Office 365

As a member of the Office 365 suite, Planner is integrated with other Office 365 services, such as Office 365 Groups, so all of the conversations in Planner are available in Outlook 2016, Outlook on the Web and the Outlook Groups Mobile Apps.

Planner is also an ideal way to organize your Office files. Attach your Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents to a Card and start editing them right away. When a document is attached to a Card, it is stored in a SharePoint Online document library, allowing you to work on them offline.

Planner in education

Plans are also a great way to organize school work. Every plan has a OneNote Notebook created for it, which means you can organize your coursework and share all your notes with classmates.

Enterprise ready, globally available

Microsoft have worked hard to ensure Planner lives up to the rigorous requirements of Microsoft’s largest enterprise customers. Technical features such as multiple redundant backups, virtually instantaneous recovery and HIPAA, FISMA, ISO27001 and EU Model compliance ensure that your data is safe, secure and always available. To make certain everyone has fast access to Planner, the service is deployed in multiple datacenters around the globe, so everyone has their work close at hand. You can visit Office 365 Trust Center to learn more.

Planner availability

Office 365 Planner will be available in preview to Office 365 First Release customers starting next quarter, so keep an eye on your Office 365 app switcher and give us your feedback after you make your first plan!

Power BI – All you wish to know about Dashboards

Power BI dashboards present your latest data in one consolidated view, regardless of where the data lives. Simply choose what data appears on your dashboard, and then use Power BI tools to present the data in compelling visualizations—maps, gauges, treemaps, bubble charts, funnel diagrams, and many more.

Here are some tips for working with dashboards that you can put into action right now.

Working with tiles

A tile presents information from an underlying dataset. It’s a snapshot of specific data pinned to your dashboard.

It’s easy to resize, rearrange, and delete tiles on your Windows 8 or Windows 10 start screen. You can do the same with tiles on your Power BI dashboard.

What happens when you select a tile on your dashboard? It depends on how the tile was created.

If you select a dashboard tile that was created in a Power BI report, Power BI opens that report. Now you can analyze the visualization on the dashboard tile in the context of related data shown in the report.

You might want to track just a single number on your Power BI dashboard, such as this year’s sales. You can create a big number tile simply by entering “This year’s sales” in the Q&A box.

To add the big number to your dashboard, click the pin icon in the upper right corner. If you select that big number tile on the dashboard, Power BI opens Q&A with the question that you used to create it. Change the question, and Power BI creates a different visualization.

You can also hyperlink a dashboard tile to another report, a web page, or other online content. Click the pencil icon on the tile. In the Tile Details box, select Set custom link, enter a URL, and then click Apply.

Creating great dashboards

Your dashboard should not only be visually appealing, but also functional. It should be clean and uncluttered so the most important information stands out.

What should you put on your dashboard? It depends on your audience. Think about what key information they need to see to make decisions. Let that guide your choice of tiles. The flexibility of the Power BI dashboard lets you change your tiles easily.

Remember that your dashboard presents an overview—the current data at a glance. You don’t have to display a lot of detail on the dashboard because your audience can click on a tile to see the underlying reports and datasets. So it’s best to display all the tiles on one dashboard screen, avoiding scroll bars if possible.

Also think about where the dashboard is going to be displayed. If it’s going to be shown on a large monitor, you can put more content on it. If it’s going to be displayed on a tablet, fewer tiles are better.

Display important data prominently. If your dashboard tiles are all the same size, your readers might not distinguish what’s most important. This is where you can use the single number tiles to good effect.

Finally, choose the appropriate visualization. With all of the Power BI visualization options, you can pick the one best suited for your data.

Line charts are great for showing trends over time:

Use bar charts for comparing values side by side. Sort your data by measure to draw attention to the highest or lowest number.

Pie charts are good for showing part-to-whole relationships rather than for unit comparison. If you want to display the current status of progress toward a goal, gauge charts are great.

You don’t have to be a data analysis expert to create informative dashboards that let you monitor important data at a glance, and share it with your colleagues. Power BI has the capabilities—you supply the imagination.
